What is the difference between the #42 and #44 (black) print cartridges for a Lexmark X4850 all in one printer and the #41 and #43 (colour) print cartridges for the same printer see 1 answer

  • The 42 black cartridge is a standard cartridge which prints approximately 220 pages at a 5% coverage, the 44xl is a larger cartridge which contains more ink and prints approximately 500 pages. This is the same with the colour also, the 41 colour is the standard cartridge which prints approximately 205 pages at a 5% coverage, the 43xl is larger cartridge which prints approximately 500 pages again at a 5% coverage. 5% coverage is based on a paragraph of approximately 3 lines.

The Genuine Lexmark No. 44XL/43XL Multipack Twin-Pack (0080D2966) contains 1 x 44XL Black Print Cartridge (018Y0144E) and 1 x 43XL Colour Print Cartridge (018YX143E). The 44XL Black Cartridge uses a formulation of pigment based evercolor2 ink which is water resistant and gives protection against smudging from a a highlighter pen.


The 0080D2966 twin-pack also features the 43XL Colour Print Cartridge which again uses pigment based ink to improve archivability. Your photos can now last up to 100 years when using evercolor2 ink printed on Lexmark PerfectFinish paper. Photos stored in albums will last even longer and the colour cartridge can be used for special occasion photos.
