How long will a cartridge stay active if not used? Colour and Black cartridges have been in machine for 8 months not used very much but computer tells me cartridges are empty. Any suggestions!! Thank you

  • Cartridges that are left for a long period in the printer without use will dry up and can cause the printer to give an error message advising that they are empty. To stop this happening, we would recommend using the printer or running a cleaning cycle on the printer at least once a month. It might be worth running a cleaning cycle on your printer now to see if that removes any dried ink that could be blocking the nozzles.
    Additionally, you could try the following troubleshooting:
    - Remove both the cartridges from the printer and switch the printer off. Blot the cartridges on some tissue paper to see if there is any ink flowing and wipe the chip on each cartridge with a dry cloth before reinstalling. If the cartridges are still not printing, it maybe that you will need to purchase replacements.
