HP QuietJet Plus Printer Review

Expert review of the HP QuietJet Plus printer

Our Verdict:

This product is the wider format version of the HP QuietJet printers, which promise a reliable performance, user-friendly operation, and excellent text prints. The HP QuietJet Plus printer is indeed quieter to run than dot-matrix printers, but it is expensive to purchase and is not ideal for bulk printing.

Design

The machine resembles large dot-matrix printers. The rugged, industrial appeal of the HP QuietJet Plus makes it seem like a backroom printer, which requires a lot of installation space because of its wide carriage design. HP constructed this device with an external power supply, eliminating the need for fuse or voltage switch adapters. The main control panel consists of indicator lights.

Advantages

The wide carriage makes the HP QuietJet Plus inkjet printer perfect for printing on large format media. It is easy to set up and use, and users can print on continuous paper and perforated forms. The HP QuietJet Plus wide format printer is also praised for its good quality print outs especially on text documents. Long-lasting HP QuietJet Plus ink cartridges are available in black, red or blue. Each colour can print up to 750,000 characters.

Disadvantages

The graphics quality of the QuietJet Plus is poor, and printing in draft mode makes text documents look faded. The HP QuietJet Plus is also criticised for the high purchase price, expensive consumables, and sluggish print speeds. There are no networking features. The device is very outdated, so consumables and replacement parts can be difficult to find, obtaining technical support is difficult, and it is not compatible with newer operating systems because of the limited selection of drivers, which are meant to work with older versions of Windows.
