I bought the replacement drum because it was showing up on the printer screen as life expired and I was getting poor quality, rather washed-out looking prints which I assumed were caused by the old drum unit. The product arrived very rapidly - it comprises the tray section with the rollers, into which you slot the toner cartridges. It's very easy to fit - if you've ever replaced a toner cartridge, or ever taken the drum out of the machine to clean inside, you have already done everything you need to replace the drum. BUT changing the drum had no visible impact on print quality whatsoever. You have to reset the counter in the printer anyway, so I'd have been as well off to just reset the counter without changing the drum. It seems the poor print quality is down to using after-market (re-filled) toner cartridges. I find the price of brand new toner cartridges extortionate (it's obviously how they make the money - sell you a low cost printer and make the margin on the consumables) so I've been using after market ones, which are less than half the price, but they are still not good value - they leak, so the entire inside of the printer gets contaminated, prints get discoloured, and in this case, you just get washed out looking prints. So I'm between a rock and a hard place - pay through the nose for brand new, or pay what is still quite a lot for an unsatisfactory product.
