My Canon MP610 all in one printer is producing broad coloured lines on pictures. Do I need a new print head or is it likely to be something else?

  • It depends on what was recently changed in your set up. If both the cartridges and print head have been installed for some time then it could be the print head. However, if the bands have only started to appear since new cartridges have been installed then this would suggest it is the cartridges.

    Print heads are an item which do require replacing every so often so if it has been some time since you replaced it or if you have never replaced it could well be the print head.

    I made the mistake of ordering a wrong part number and received a printhead which was not the right part for my Canon printer. Totally my own error.     Although it took longer than expected to arrive, I have since fitted the printhead and it works perfectly. It cost half as much as the printer but I believe that is not unusual. In the event I found it very simple to fit, which was just as well as it came with no instructions at all.
