How do I reset the protection counter on my Epson printer?
When wanting to reset your Epson printer, usually the SSC for Epson program should do the trick. The program allows you to reset the protection counter and continue to use your printer even though Epson is saying it needs to be 'repaired'. This program does not work for those who have the new range of Epson printers but if you follow our advice below, you should be able to get around any problems.
We suggest you download and install the ResetterForC79 program before attempting to reset the protection counter your Epson printer.
Take the following steps:
- Make sure the printer is turned and you have it connected to your computer via a USB cable.
- Now change the computer's date to 1 November 2006 from System from Time & Date in Control Panel.
- Double click on the AdjProg.exe file to run it.
- Once it opens, click on Accept.
- Now select the 'Particular adjustment mode' option.
- Locate and select the 'Waste ink pad counter' then click OK.
- Following this, select Initialization' to reset the protection counter on your Epson printer.
- Once completed, click on Finish.
- Don't forget to change your computer's date back.
Now that has been completed the waste ink counter should be reset, allowing you to print again and save you the expense and inconvenience of having to buy a new printer.
