What is a 'remanufactured' cartridge?

What is the difference between remanufactured and original cartridges?
Remanufactured cartridges are OEM cartridges which have been recycled. An original cartridge which is empty has been returned using a recycling programme and then professionally cleaned, refilled, tested and repackaged for resale.
