Refilling Information

Preparation

To prepare for the simple refilling process please have your JR Universal Ink, JR Cartridge Flush, Ink-Jector and other parts available along with soft paper towels. You should refill over a protected surface, as ink will stain absorbent materials.

Cartridge handling

Never touch the metal parts on the cartridge. Treat it with care and avoid damaging it in any way.

The circuit board on some cartridges contain electronics that can short if handled improperly.

The printhead contains very sensitive components. Never touch the printhead with your fingers, allow it to contact water, or treat it roughly during cleaning and handling.

Assembly and cleaning of syringe

To use the filling syringe, remove the blunt tipped filling tube from its white plastic sheath and push it onto the end of the syringe. Insert the blunt tipped filling tube into the bottle through the seal. Pull back on the plunger to draw ink into the syringe. When the refill process has been completed return any excess ink to the bottle.

To clean the syringe, separate the blunt tipped filling tube and plunger from the syringe and thoroughly rinse all parts with water. When the water runs clear, dry the parts for use with another colour or store for later use.

Where does each colour go?

Please follow the instruction leaflet for guidance. To double check the location of each colour in your cartridge insert the clean blunt tipped filling tube, or a toothpick, into each of the filling holes.

Amount of Ink to Inject

It is important to refill your cartridge before it becomes empty, thus the amount of ink required will vary by cartridge.

Simply inject ink slowly into the cartridge until it begins to appear around the fill opening. Now pull back slightly on the plunger and withdraw the filling tube from the cartridge.
