Brother DCP-385C ink cartridges 

The Brother DCP-385C is a small and compact multifunction printer designed for a small office and personal user looking for an all-in-one device for low-volume printing. It is feature-packed for direct-printing as well as standard printing, scanning, and copying jobs, but it could be better if it had wireless connectivity, additional networking, and less expensive inks.

Design

Although the Brother DCP-385C is a multifunction printer, it is surprisingly compact with a small footprint, weighing approximately 7 kg and measuring 15.4 inches wide, 14.4 inches in diameter, and 5.9 inches tall. The 3.3-inch widescreen colour LCD display is a decent upgrade from the smaller 2-inch screen (for better picture viewing). The Brother DCP-385C uses colour inkjet technology and a 4-ink cartridge system. The flatbed scanner doubles as a copier, but can accommodate only letter-sized media.

Advantages

The Brother DCP-385C prints text well and is fairly fast in draft mode. Colour document output quality is superior, with white-on-grey details maintaining their sharp and crisp qualities. Users are happy with the fast and accurate scanner, as well as with the direct-printing capabilities of the Brother DCP-385C (via PictBridge and built-in memory card readers). Ink cartridges are easy to install.

Disadvantages

It is expensive to replace the inks of Brother DCP-385C; in general, this device is costly to operate. Photo printing is mediocre even when set into best mode because colours appear unnatural and somewhat over-saturated. The Brother DCP385C emits a maximum of 50dB of noise when copying, but it gets noisier (complete with whistling sounds) while printing. Overall print speed needs improvement.
