Our Verdict:
Designed for small offices, the Brother MFC-6490CW is an all-in-one colour inkjet printer with advanced features to increase productivity and lower running costs. While it is fairly efficient, this bulky printer is lagging behind competitors in terms of print speed and is not as flexible in adapting to different kinds and sizes of media.
Design
This wide format multifunction device is integrated with colour fax, scan, and copy functions along with a colour inkjet printer that runs on a 4 ink cartridge system. The standard paper tray can accommodate up to 400 sheets, and the printer's duty cycle is quite high at 5,000 monthly. The control panel's buttons are grouped according to their functions and the centrepiece is the widescreen colour LCD, which is great for previewing pictures and documents before printing. The Brother MFC-6490CW is a heavyweight at 34.4 pounds with dimensions of 21.3x19.2x12.7 inches (WxDxH).
Advantages
Users can secure their documents and restrict public access to them using the Brother MFC-6490CW’s state of the art security features. The printer is versatile and can accommodate ledger-sized prints (11x17 inches). The widescreen 3.3-inch colour LCD display is another plus, along with the generous two-year limited warranty and high yield ink cartridges.
