Brother MFC-990CW ink cartridges 

The Brother MFC-990CW is a fast and efficient multifunction device that boasts a built-in answering machine and telephone. The touch screen is the most notable feature of the all-in-one printer. The downside is that it prints slowly and it is still prone to mechanical issues that are prevalent throughout the range and haven’t so far been addressed by Brother.

Design

This printer is surprisingly more compact than other Brother multifunction printers because it only measures 18.4 inches wide, 7.1 inches tall, and 14.8 inches deep. It is fairly lightweight and mobile (weighing only 8.4 kg) and comes with a built-in 802.11b/g wireless and Ethernet interfaces. The Brother MFC-990CW runs on colour inkjet technology using the 4-cartridge ink system, supports borderless printing, and integrated with a hi-speed Super G3 33.6Kbps fax modem with a telephone handset. The 15-sheet ADF supports the flatbed copier of the Brother MFC-990CW, too.

Advantages

The large 4.2-inch colour touchscreen LCD display makes the Brother MFC-990CW a user-friendly multifunction device. Users can rely on the 15-sheet auto document feeder, which also supports the scanner and the fax machine. The Brother MFC-990CW supports direct-printing features via PictBridge, media card, and USB flash drive slots, but it can print wirelessly through Bluetooth, too. This device is Energy Star-qualified, compatible with smart phones, and uses only 1.5-picoliter droplets of ink to help users save money. Print quality is also very crisp and vibrant.

Disadvantages

Brother should improve on hardware and engineering of the MFC-990CW so it can be speedier and work more flawlessly. The device is basically prone to the same mechanical issues affecting most of the company's multifunction printers. Users need to have their own USB cord or buy one because the Brother MFC-990CW does not have it in the package. The warranty is only limited to a year. The printer relies highly on a PC connection and cannot function as a standalone copy machine.
