Our Verdict:  

Brother MFC-J5910DW ink cartridges 

Built for professionals and discerning home users, the Brother MFC-J5910DW is integrated with features that help improve productivity and reduce running costs. Although it is an affordable, user-friendly and network-ready multifunction device, it lacks extra paper handling options and does not deliver excellent printouts.

Design

Tabloid-sized or A3 media can be accommodated by the Brother MFC-J5910DW because of its large chassis, but because of its dimensions and sleek finish, it tends to stand out and takes up a little too much space. The control panel is neatly arranged, uncluttered, and the buttons are grouped according to features. The focal point of the printer is the 1.9-inch touchscreen display, which can be flipped up for a better view of the menu. The PictBridge port and memory card readers are located in front. Wi-Fi is supported.

Advantages

Despite its size, the Brother MFC-J5910DW is affordable and economical to maintain in the long-run. It is easy to set-up and its selection of features is just right for the small business or a home network. It can print on tabloid-sized media (11x17 inches), too. The Brother MFC-J5910DW has a built-in duplexer to save resources, while the automatic document feeder lets users save time. The printer is Energy Star-qualified and uses high-yield ink cartridges to guarantee more savings.

Disadvantages

There is only one paper tray on the Brother MFC-J5910DW, so users would have to load different types of media one at a time. The copier cannot function without a PC, and the entire device itself is heavy and bulky (weighing 13.6 kg and measuring 20.2 inches wide, 10.2 inches tall, and 18.1 inches deep). Text printouts do not appear crisp, while photos look average. The touchscreen of the Brother MFC-J5910DW is quite small, which can make it difficult to navigate and preview pictures.
