  • My Pixma MP260 manual says the printhead and cartridge are supplied together. Is this a fact? (have lost printhead and need a new colour cartridge anyway).

    Canon MP260 cartridge and printhead

Yes, the Canon Pixma MP260 printer uses Canon FINE cartridge technology which combines the printhead and ink tank into one replaceable cartridge. To replace your colour cartridge and printhead in the Pixma MP260 you need to buy either the Canon CL-511 colour cartridge or the Canon CL-513 high capacity colour cartridge.

Canon Pixma MP260 Printer Review

Expert review of the Canon Pixma MP260 printer 28 February 2014

Our Verdict:

A good printer for the home, the Canon Pixma MP260 is a basic multifunction that can print, scan, and copy. It is not the most stylish looking Pixma, but it does pack good features that older models lacked. It has built in memory card slots and uses Canon's FINE Cartridges, which are compatible with genuine photo papers from the same brand. It produces better-quality and longer-lasting photos, along with more vibrant scans and copies. The Canon Pixma MP260 is quite noisy, though, and still doesn't have Wi-Fi interface.

Design

The Canon Pixma MP260 is somewhat boxy, with the same white and black finish as its predecessors. It has a self opening paper tray for collecting prints and a high resolution 1200dpi scanner. USB still comes as standard interface, but the Canon Pixma MP260 comes with the addition of memory card slots for direct printing without using your PC.

Advantages

The Canon Pixma MP260 boasts better quality outputs (prints and scans) and supports borderless printing. The copier creates vibrant reproductions, and the printer comes with a range of software that allows easy layout for calendars, albums, and other creative projects. Auto Photo Fix also makes photo editing easier, and the scanner has an OCR function for converting printed text into electronic documents.

Disadvantages

Ink cartridges can be costly to replace, but they last a long time. The Canon Pixma MP260 is also rather noisy, especially during start up. With print speeds of up to 6.5ppm and 4.5ppm in black and white and colour, it certainly isn't the fastest.
