The Epson FX-1180 dot matrix printer is a compact printer, a standalone unit with exceptional speed and versatility. It can be used for printing anything from tickets and receipts to A3 size documents and is one of the most versatile printers on the market. Capable of printing five high-quality copies of invoices along with one original, and with continuous status monitoring, the FX-1180 will prove itself a valuable workhorse in any busy office.
Design
The Epson FX-1180 dot matrix printer measures 23.2 x 13.8 x 6.1 in and weighs only 21.16 lb, making it easy to fit onto any handy worktop in the office space. This compact yet highly flexible and powerful unit is particularly adept at churning out multiple copies of documents at the touch of a lever. An optional tractor unit enables a push-pull paper feed and an optional cut sheet feeder allows the selection of paper from the top, front or rear for printing onto a variety of different paper types.
Advantages
The Epson FX-1180 is a valuable time saver that uses fewer dots to deliver receipts, tickets, invoices and drafts, and is 10% faster than its predecessors in the range. Its advanced Epson technology and 9-pin high-impact printhead guarantees high-quality and incredibly precise copies every time. It is also ideal for a range of network applications thanks to the incorporation of a parallel interface and an optional Type B interface slot.
Disadvantages
Unlike many printer units on the market today, the Epson FX-1180 does not combine the multi-functionality of a combined printer-scanner-copier, and as such may not meet the requirements of offices that have limited space. There is no LCD screen for previews of documents in the printer queue and paper must be manually fed into the unit. This printer does not print in colour either.
