The Epson LQ-300+ dot-matrix printer is designed to be a fast and high quality printer for the serious but busy business environment. The LQ300+ ribbon printer offers optional colour capability and excellent media handling capabilities, but its dot matrix print technology is quite outdated and slow for most offices.
Design
The industrial, rugged appearance of the Epson LQ-300+ printer is significantly smaller than older versions of dot matrix printers. It measures 366mm wide, 159mm tall, and 275mm deep and weighs 4.4Kg, making it more suitable for a small business environment. The control panel is clearly labelled with LED status indicators to determine the printer's status. The LQ-300+ uses impact dot matrix printing method with 24 pins, 24 needles, and 80 columns. Document feeding features include continuous paper rear and a single sheet feeder at the back.
Advantages
The Epson LQ-300+ impact printer is a workhorse for light to medium print jobs with speeds of up to 300 characters per second. It is lightweight, compact, and cost-effective with affordable ribbons and lower cost-per-page ratio. Users can produce four-part forms with three copies from one original. Setting up the Epson LQ-300+ matrix printer is easy with serial, parallel, and USB interfaces. Cheap Epson LQ-300+ ink ribbons are still on sale at online stores.
Disadvantages
There are no built-in networking options in the Epson LQ300+, making it difficult for workgroups to share. Only Windows operating systems (XP, 2000, and 98) are supported by the Epson LQ 300+, and the built-in memory is only 64Kb. It is also unsuitable for demanding jobs and bulk printing.
