Epson Stylus Colour 660 Printer Review
Expert review of the Epson Stylus Colour 660 printer
28 February 2014
This photo-quality inkjet printer is ideal for home-based desktop publishing, making it a good choice for students and creative endeavours. The Epson Stylus Colour 660 can print well in high resolutions because of advanced imaging systems for photo quality output, but some users may find the Epson Stylus Colour 660 to be slower than average and inefficient for printing too many pages.
Compact and simple, the Epson Stylus Colour 660 inkjet printer measures 168mm tall, 275mm deep, and 429mm wide, so it can fit into small desks and cramped spaces. The small control panel is found on the lower right-hand corner in front and makes it easy for users to load/eject paper, clean the print heads, and replace ink cartridges. The Stylus Colour 660 printer requires separate tri-colour and black cartridges with the quick-dry ink feature to avoid smudging. Users can connect the Stylus Colour 660 to a Mac or Windows computer via parallel USB.
The device is integrated with Epson's intuitive PerfectPicture imaging system so black-and-white text documents look crisp and colour images are almost at par with photo quality standards. The Epson Stylus 660 colour inkjet printer also boasts the print layout function that lets users save paper, while the watermarking feature makes it easy to label documents as 'top secret', 'draft', or 'confidential'. The Epson Stylus Colour 660 printer is fairly easy to operate on-board and on-screen.
The parallel interface of the Epson Stylus Colour 660 inkjet printer is outdated when compared to newer inkjet printers with the convenience of high-speed USB 2.0. The Epson 660 colour printer is somewhat heavy, weighing 5.2kg, so it can be difficult to lift and transport by the average user. Print speeds can be disappointingly sluggish in the Epson Stylus Colour 660 especially when printing full-colour photos and graphics on larger and special types of media (i.e. glossy photo paper).
