  • I have tried to use compatible Espon Stylus SX218 inks and after installing the cartridges the printer displays; 'do not recognise cartridges' although my supplier indicates otherwise. Can you assist please?

    Troubleshooting compatible Epson SX218 inks

The cartridges you require for this printer are the T0711 black, T0712 cyan, T0713 magenta and T0714 yellow. As long as your printer was purchased in the UK, these cartridges should be compatible, therefore it is possible that one or more of the cartridges you have installed is faulty.

There is some troubleshooting you can try to help determine which one. Firstly, I would suggest removing all cartridges and switching off your printer. Leave the printer off for five minutes and wipe the chip on each cartridge with a lint-free cloth and reinstall them. If you are still getting the same error message it suggests that one or more of the cartridges is faulty.

If you still have your old cartridges you should be able to determine which one is faulty by switching the cartridges round in your printer, so that you have one new cartridge and three old cartridges installed at a time. Try this for each cartridge and this should hopefully reveal which item(s) is causing this error.

I would recommend contacting the supplier of these cartridges if you are still experiencing problems, hopefully they should be able to help further.

  • Do I need toner for the Epson SX218 printer model?

    Epson Stylus SX218 printing method

No, the Epson Stylus SX218 is an inkjet printer that requires the use of ink cartridges rather than toner. You can see the Epson Stylus SX218 ink cartridges listed at the top of this page.

  • I have an Epson SX218 printer and have been using non-Epson cartridges but I got a message on the printer "cartridges not recognised." I replaced all four colours but I'm getting the same response when I switch the printer on, rendering the printer useless. I see you are selling cartridges guaranteed to work in the SX218. Can you verify that this is indeed the case? If so, then you will be getting at least one new customer. Thanks, Coops.

    Compatible Epson SX218 cartridges

The compatible cartridges we stock are made to a very high standard and it is very unusual to experience any faults. As long as you purchase the compatible Epson Stylus SX218 inks that are listed on this page we can confirm that they will be compatible with your printer and should give you good results. We do have a 30 day no quibble returns policy as well so if you do experience any problems with any of our products then please contact a member of the customer care team, who will be happy to help.

  • My Epson Stylus SX218 is currently loaded with the original set of four cartridges but the black ink (T0711) has expired. I have read elsewhere that if I replace the black cartridge only with a compatible, it will be rejected with a 'cartridge not recognised' message because the smart chip in the replacement black cartridge will conflict with the smart chips in the other original cartridges. Is this true, and if so does it mean that I have to buy a full set of compatible cartidges, even though only the black ink has expired?

Can I use compatible SX218 inks alongside genuine inks?

Our compatible Epson SX218 cartridges should work alongside both compatible and genuine cartridges. If it is only the black you need to replace you should be able to install a T0711 compatible cartridge and it should work without any problems along with the three genuine cartridges that you already have installed.

  • What's the procedure for changing ink cartridges on an Epson Stylus SX 218? When you change the cartridges, do you have to change them all, even if some are half full?

    Changing Epson SX218 ink cartridges

Please consult your Epson Stylus SX218 printer manual for instructions on how to change the cartridges. If you don't have your manual to hand then you can download one from the following link: http://www.epson.co.uk/gb/en/viewcon/corporatesite/products/mainunits/support/3838 You should only need to change the cartridge that has run out.

  • I have the Epson SX218 printer and I've always bought the Cheetah range of inks. However, can I use any of your cheaper inks ie. Monkey inks and will they print as well?

    Cheaper inks for SX218

Yes, the Epson Stylus SX218 Home All-in-One printer can use either the Cheetah range of inks or the Monkey range of inks. We only list the Cheetah range because they are better value for money in terms of the price-per-print.

  • Can you print in black and white only with the SX218 printer as I'm having trouble doing this?

Black only printing with the Epson SX218

A dialogue box should open before you print which allows you to choose different options such as "Greyscale" or "Monochrome" printing. However, because your Epson Stylus SX218 is a colour inkjet printer it's likely to require that all four of the separate black, cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges are installed with ink in them for it to work. If it's possible to change this setting this should be documented in your printer manual which can be downloaded from the following page on Epson's website: http://www.epson.co.uk/gb/en/viewcon/corporatesite/products/mainunits/support/3838

  • Do you supply multipacks for the Epson SX218 printer ie. 6 x black cartridges, 2 x each of the colour cartridges?

    Epson SX218 multipacks

We don't supply multipacks with more than one of the same cartridge. The Epson Stylus SX218 multipacks that we currently stock have one of each of the four separate colours required by your printer (black, cyan, magenta and yellow). If you need to make multiple purchases of the same colour e.g. 6 x black T0711 cartridges, you would need to click on the single pack and then adjust the quantity of the order using the drop-down box to select the desired amount. A discount is applied at the checkout point for buying multiples of the same product.

  • Hello. I've had lots of trouble trying to make my Epson SX218 printer accept compatible cartridges. I've given up after three sets of compatible cartridges. Having purchased some genuine Epson SX218 cartridges which are empty, do you think they stand a good chance of working? If so, I want these cartridges filling. Can you fill them for me while I wait? Thanks, Ed.

    Refilling Epson SX218 printer cartridges

We're sorry to hear of the problems you've experienced using compatible Epson SX218 ink cartridges from other retailers. However, we can assure you that our premium brand compatible Epson SX218 ink cartridges will work reliably in your printer as a cheaper alternative to the genuine Epson SX218 ink cartridges. Unfortunately, we don't provide a refilling service for cartridges. All of our ink cartridges are sold online and we stock compatible Epson Stylus SX218 cartridges that have already been professionally refilled and fitted with the correct chip so you can install them directly into your printer without the need to refill them yourself. As you've already purchased some empty Epson SX218 genuine cartridges we wouldn't be able to refill those for you so would advise you to search for a company that could offer you this service. Alternatively, you can try our high quality compatible Epson SX218 ink carridges which we believe will be more than satisfactory for you and work relaibly in your printer. If not, we would offer you a full refund as promised by our money back guarantee.

  • Do you stock cleaning cartridges for the SX218 printer?

    Epson SX218 consumables

We only supply genuine and compatible ink cartridges for the Epson Stylus SX218 printer at present. We advise you to run a printhead cleaning cycle on your Epson Stylus SX218 printer as part of your inkjet maintenance routine as opposed to using cleaning cartridge products that might not be compatible with the printer.

Epson Stylus SX218 Printer Review

Expert review of the Epson Stylus SX218 printer 20 April 2011

Our Verdict:

Want the freedom to print directly from your camera, mobile phone or USB Key? Then consider the Epson SX218 all-in-one inkjet. With a 3.8 cm LCD viewer and built in memory card reader, the SX218 is the perfect home printer. Print, scan and photocopy with ease and save money with their individual Epson SX218 ink cartridge system.

Design

The Epson SX218 printer's black, high-gloss finish looks great and its compact design will make it suitable for the smallest of home offices. The top of the printer hosts the LCD screen viewer and function keys which allows you to print and copy at the click of a button. The collapsible input tray at the rear can hold 100 sheets and makes a nice change from the standard paper feed system that plagues the budget all-in-one category.

Advantages

Considering the price, the Epson SX218 accepts a plethora of external media formats which you wouldn't get from other budget all-in-ones. With over 15 compatible memory cards, the SX218 is one of the most flexible printers on the market. The Epson SX218 cartridges are easy to replace and have been designed to save the end user money as you only need to replace the colours that have been used.

Disadvantages

It's disappointing to see that Epson has overlooked the network capabilities of the printer. Adding WiFi or an Ethernet port would have opened up the market and made the printer more suitable for households with more than one computer. The overall speed of the all-in-one is disappointing so if you intend to print, scan or copy at high-volumes then look elsewhere.
