  • Hi. I have a HP Deskjet 2050 J501 series printer. I'm currently using HP 122 black ink and HP 122 colour ink. Are the HP 301 cartridges suitable for my 2050s printer? Regards, Pete.

    Cartridges for HP Deskjet 2050s

The HP 301 cartridges are compatible with your HP Deskjet 2050s printer, providing that it is a UK printer model.

As your printer has different cartridges installed is does sound like your printer was not purchased in the UK. Unfortunately, if this is the case our HP 301 ink cartridges will not work in your printer model.

  • We have an HP Deskjet 3050 all in one that we bought in Israel. It currently has 122 XL cartridges. I recently bought 301 cartridges and they wouldn't work. Do you have any suggestions for me? Best regards, Karen Salt.

Ink cartridges for Deskjet purchased abroad

Like DVDs, cartridges have region codes depending on where the printer was purchased. Unfortunately, UK cartridges will not work in a printer that is purchased outside of the UK. For more information on this, please see the link below to HP's website:

HP Deskjet 2050s Printer Review

Expert review of the HP Deskjet 2050s printer 01 March 2012

Our Verdict:

The special edition HP Deskjet 2050s is a sleek all-in-one designed for printing, copying and scanning everyday documents. It is compact and light at 40.6x42.7x24.9cm, making it suitable even for small workspaces. The HP Deskjet 2050s is pretty simple to set up, has uncomplicated, intuitive controls, and produces good quality prints and scans. It can, however, be especially slow during start up, and operation is annoyingly loud and sluggish.

Design

The HP Deskjet 2050s boasts a sleek and clean design, with a rear paper feed and pull-down paper catch at the front. The flatbed scanner sits right on top and has an easy-open and close lid, to the left of which are the intuitive controls for power, cancelling print jobs, black and white copy, and colour copy. The indicator lights tell you if the printer is out of paper, if paper has jammed, and if ink cartridges are out of ink. This machine connects to PC via high speed USB.

Advantages

The software and driver that come with the HP Deskjet 2050s are easy to set up and install, and will get your printer going in just a few minutes. It prints quickly at 20ppm and 16ppm in mono and colour draft modes, respectively, and allows scanning up to 1200dpi. Scanning time depends on how high you want the resolution to be; naturally, the higher the resolution, the longer the scanning process.

Disadvantages

The HP Deskjet 2050s starts up sluggishly and is quite noisy. Print quality isn't at par with other all-in-ones in the market, though it is good enough for everyday documents, school work, and the like.
