HP Deskjet 6620 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Deskjet 6620 printer
09 February 2012
A high-end inkjet printer with an Ethernet port, the HP Deskjet 6620 is rather advanced despite its old-fashioned and understated design. It prints both monochrome and colour fast and efficiently, but the HP Deskjet 6620 is considered one of the priciest inkjet printers around.
The HP Deskjet 6620 is a personal inkjet colour printer weighing 13.2 lbs. Connectivity options include Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX, USB, and PictBridge, which lets you print directly from your camera. All controls are on the front panel to your left, including a one-touch cancel button. It has 32MB of RAM (not expandable) and features a chunky-looking paper tray, which certainly needs an upgrade.
The HP Deskjet 6620 prints 20 colour documents and pictures per minute and 30 black and white pages per minute. The printer has a built-in networking feature, enabling you to connect it to a small network without an external server. Apart from that, the HP Deskjet 6620 can perform borderless printing and boasts duplex printing capabilities. 'Ink backup' mode can be activated when a print cartridge runs out of ink, so you can continue printing.
The major drawback of the HP Deskjet 6620 is the price; in fact, it is one of most expensive HP printers around. This printer is also outdated and won't support newer operating systems by Microsoft Windows and Apple; if you work using Microsoft Windows Vista and Apple MacOS X 10.3, though, then this shouldn't be a problem. The lack of USB 2.0 ports also makes the HP Deskjet 6620 problematic.
