HP Deskjet 6840 ink cartridges 

A futuristic design and compact body makes the HP Deskjet 6840 an attractive addition to a modern home or compact office with a small network of computers. It comes with additional features like an extra paper tray and a duplexer. Some aspects of its design are clumsy and inefficient, though, and the required consumables are one the expensive side.

Design

This printer is among HP's high-end products and boasts fast print speeds and easy networking with up to 5 computers. The HP Deskjet 6840 can be hooked up with a USB 2.0 cable or via Ethernet, and allows wireless printing with WiFi and PictBridge interfaces. The printer is only 13.2 pounds. All the controls are easily accessible on the front panel, and the print status is displayed on the LCD screen. HP has equipped the Deskjet 6840 with a badly-designed output tray that is bulky and outdated, according to many users.

Advantages

The print quality of the HP Deskjet 6840 is consistently good. The Ethernet and WiFi capabilities of the printer allow ease in connectivity and faster output. The additional duplexer and paper tray adds to the efficiency, especially in accomplishing multiple print jobs.

Disadvantages

Despite the cutting-edge design, the HP Deskjet 6840 is slower compared to other inkjet printers from competitors. Draft speed is 30ppm, but ‘normal’ to ‘best’ monochrome speed is only between 2ppm to 9.8ppm. Colour printing is also slow at 5.7ppm in ‘normal’ mode and 2ppm in ‘best’ mode. Also, the paper tray is prone to jams and could use an upgrade. Some users also report difficulties networking difficulties with the HP Deskjet 6840.
