  • How can I use the HP 60 cartridge in my Deskjet D1663 printer?

    HP D1663 cartridge compatibility

If your printer (HP Deskjet D1663) was purchased in the UK, then it does not take the HP 60 ink cartridge. This code belongs to cartridges that are sold outside of the UK. We only stock ink cartridges for use in printers purchased within the UK. If your printer was purchased in the UK, then you need the HP 300 or HP 300XL ink cartridges. If you're printer was purchased outside of the UK and you're intending to buy UK cartridges it may be possible for Hewlett Packard to change the regional code on your printer so that it accepts UK cartridges. However, you would need to contact HP directly to investigate this matter further.

  • Can you supply HP 121 or 121XL ink cartridges for the HP Deskjet D1663 printer?

    Deskjet D1663 and non-UK cartridges

Unfortunately, we do not recognise the codes on these cartridges as being from the UK. We only stock cartridges for UK model (Region2) printers. If you have a Deskjet D1663 printer that was purchased outside of the UK, the cartridges we sell (HP 300 / HP300XL) will not be compatible.

  • How do I refill HP 121 colour ink cartridges for the Deskjet D1663 printer?

    Refilling Deskjet D1663 cartridges

We only supply items for use in UK printer models and the HP 121 ink cartridge is not compatible with the Deskjet D1663 (UK model). We also do not list a refill kit for the HP Deskjet D1663 ink cartridges so it appears that you're not able to manually refill these ink cartridges.

HP Deskjet D1663 Printer Review

Expert review of the HP Deskjet D1663 printer 09 February 2012

Our Verdict:

The HP Deskjet D1663 is a savvy inkjet printer designed for home use and is often praised for its fast monochrome and full colour print speed. It is efficient enough for personal printing needs, but limited connectivity and other problems may get in the way of productivity.

Design

The HP Deskjet D1663 is an understated and sleek printer that is 432 mm wide, 305 mm in diameter, and 127 mm tall. It weights 2.3 kilograms, making it lightweight, very portable, and easy to set-up anywhere. The printer uses the low-cost thermal inkjet print technology and is surprisingly fast and versatile for the usual print jobs. It only supports USB 2.0.

Advantages

For an inkjet printer, the HP Deskjet D1663 is quite swift as it can print up to 20 ppm. It can likewise handle borderless printing. The printer has an Energy Star rating, which makes it inexpensive and environment-friendly. Most Windows and Mac operating systems are compatible.

Disadvantages

This printer still uses HP's outdated paper tray system, which is prone to paper jams. Another drawback is the HP Deskjet D1663's limited warranty, which is only good for a year. Some users also report that the installer setup program tends to freeze. Consumables like HP ink cartridges for the HP Deskjet D1663 are expensive. The maximum resolution of the HP Deskjet D1663 is only 600x600dpi, which means it cannot deliver true-to-life graphics. It also can't handle PostScript fonts.
