HP Deskjet F4100 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Deskjet F4100 printer
01 March 2012
The HP Deskjet F4100 series is a new line of all-in-one printers with the ability to print, scan, and copy, all in one compact device. It is very different from the F300 series, although units from the HP Deskjet F4100 do come with large built in RAMs and have faster speeds. They are, however, a downgrade from F300's already low duty cycle of 700ppm, as they can only produce 500 pages per month.
Unlike the former F300 series, the HP Deskjet F4100 boasts a sleek black finish with a slightly wider footprint, as the unit measures 7.11x 16.76 x 10.53 inches. The printer still uses two ink cartridges (tri-colour and black) and supports only USB connectivity.
Fast draft speeds are very impressive at 20ppm for black and white and 14 ppm for colour prints, while the scanner boasts a resolution of 1200 x 2400dpi. The HP Deskjet F4100 can scan up to A4 size documents, although bulky books can be a challenge to fit into the flatbed. A wide array of media is supported, and copy speed is excellent.
Some complaints about the HP Deskjet F4100 include low monthly yield, problems in installation, as well as other mechanical issues. Ink prices are often high for inkjets, especially for those who print a lot of coloured documents.
