  • My HP L7590 is only printing black and yellow. Does this mean it's the magenta / cyan printhead that is defective and how easy is it to replace?

    Replacing HP L7590 printheads

I am very sorry to hear about the problems you are experiencing. When either of the printheads need replacing on the printer, there should be an error message advising of this. As there is no error it is difficult to say exactly what is causing this problem, it may be the printhead, the cartridges or could be a problem with the printer. I would recommend contacting HP directly, they should be able to run through troubleshooting with you and diagnose the problem. You could also try running a cleaning cycle on the printer to remove any dried ink that could be blocking the contacts.

The printhead is usually straightforward to replace and is designed to be replaced by the end user, there should be instructions either with the item or in your printer manual on replacing this item.

There is also troubleshooting information for this printer on the HP website as well as a copy of the printer manual, please see the link below for further information:

  • How can I continue to use my Officejet Pro L7590 printer using only black and yellow cartridges when I'm out of cyan and magenta ink?

HP Officejet Pro L7590 cartridge replacement

Unfortunately, this won't be possible as your HP Officejet Pro L7590 printer will require that all four of the black, cyan, magenta and yellow HP 88 / 88XL ink cartridges are installed with some remaining ink in order for the printer to work. We advise you to replace your cyan and magenta ink cartridges if they have completely run out of ink or it's unlikely that your HP L7590 printer will work correctly.

HP Officejet Pro L7590 Printer Review

Expert review of the HP Officejet Pro L7590 printer 05 April 2012

Our Verdict:

The impressive speed of this printer makes it great for business applications. It comes with a fax machine and a copier that can be used as standalone devices, and the scanner can handle high-resolution documents and pictures. But since the HP Officejet Pro L7590 is designed for office tasks, its photo quality and photo print speed are sub-par for an inkjet printer.

Design

Large and bulky, the HP Officejet Pro L7590's 15-kilogram frame and dimensions of 35.6x52.5x46.6 cm (HxWxD) means it takes up considerable space. It is fast enough for an inkjet printer because of the 64MB memory. Direct printing features include PictBridge and built-in memory card readers. The busy control panel is conveniently located on the front, dominated by a small screen, and slightly angled for better viewing and access.

Advantages

This network-ready printer has an Ethernet port at the back. The package comes with a USB cable. The energy-efficient HP Officejet Pro L7590 prints documents fast at up to 35 ppm in monochrome and 34 ppm in colour. The fax and copier of the HP Officejet Pro L7590 can be used as standalone device; you can scan, fax, and print over a network, too.

Disadvantages

The drawbacks of this printer begin during the lengthy installation process. The power cord is not long enough, so the HP Officejet Pro L7590 needs to be settled closer to the power socket. Though there is Ethernet, the printer has no Wi-Fi. When the HP Officejet Pro L7590 is printing, it makes somewhat loud 'clunking' noises, which may interrupt a quiet office environment. This printer has issues with Sans-serif fonts, which come out appearing smudged and blurred. Photo prints are average, at best.
