INk cartridges - using alternatives to HP see 1 answer

you offer jet tek cartridges as an alternative to HP. Looking at other reviews it seems as if the way the ink gets into the printer could be different. The HP cartridges have a valve where as other brands rely on gravity. The reviewer expressed concern about air getting into the printer. Can you please confirm how these jettek cartridges work? thanks, Nicola

Printer has suddenly stopped printing in black, is printheads the cause? jean

  • This problem could be caused by a number of reasons; your cartridge may be empty or faulty, the print head may need replacing or you may have a blockage. You could try to run a cleaning cycle on your printer which will remove any blockages. I hope this helps, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team.

Our Verdict:  

HP Officejet Pro L7780 ink cartridges 

Made especially for business applications, the all-in-one device HP Officejet Pro L7780 is integrated with features that promote workplace efficiency. However, this multifunction device is quite pricey. Also, while it is a great document printer, the HP Officejet Pro L7780 is not an excellent photo printer.


Design

The HP Officejet Pro L7780 retains most of the features and dimensions of similar printers from the same series, including the digital filing system, which is useful when there are multiple users assigned to the printer through a network. The control panel looks cluttered and dominated by the 2.4-inch colour preview screen, but the buttons are organised according to scan, fax, and copy functions. The HP Officejet Pro L7780 requires 4 individual ink cartridges.

Advantages

The built-in media card slots let you print directly from a MultiMediaCard, xD-Picture Card, Memory Stick, CompactFlash, or SD Memory Card if connecting your digital camera via PictBridge is not an option. The monthly duty cycle of the HP Officejet Pro L7780 is 7,500 pages, making it great for high-volume printing. The 2.4-inch screen is slightly larger, so it is easy to preview files and printer settings before printing. The HP Officejet Pro L7780 is also capable of two-sided printing, and the automatic document feeder feature saves even more time. Users can also send and receive colour faxes.

Disadvantages

Because the HP Officejet Pro L7780 is made to do office tasks, its photo printouts are not that good. The photo menu needs to be more intuitive, and the print speed for full-colour files needs to be speedier than 5 ppm (in ‘best’ mode). The HP Officejet Pro L7780 is also often criticised for its bulky frame and for inefficient ink consumption.
