HP Officejet R65 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Officejet R65 printer
28 May 2012
An all-in-one printer for the office, the HP Officejet R65 is a basic inkjet printer with a built-in scanner and copier. It is a Windows-specific machine and does not work with any other operating system. The HP R65 produces high-resolution images, but speed may be an issue for more demanding environments. The HP Officejet R65 is work group-friendly in terms of its multifunctionality, but when it comes to speed and networking capabilities, offices may want to look some place else to achieve optimum performance.
The HP Officejet R65 is basically an inkjet printer with a flatbed scanner on top. It features a front-yield paper tray, plus an upright tray at the rear. The Officejet R65 uses the drop-on-demand ink system, which produces high-resolution graphics and images. The HP Officejet R65 has a 24-bit colour scanner and is equipped with OCR so that scanned text can be converted into editable form. The machine measures about 18.4x17.3x31.7 inches, quite a bulk for small desktops, although it is very manageable at only 26 pounds.
More than high-resolution prints that reaches up to 600x2400 dpi, the HP Officejet R65 also offers an automatic document feeder, 4MB of built-in memory, and good digital copy options. One ink tank can produce up to 3,000 pages, which is quite economical, keeping running costs low.
The main disadvantage of the HP Officejet R65 all-in-one printer however, is its speed, which averages only 11 ppm in black and white and 8.5 ppm in colour. It also lacks office-friendly features like fax and networking.
