Please help a very untechnical user! I need new cartridges for my HP Photosmart photo printer which is about 5-7 years old but works very well (when it has cartridges) I have lost the used ones and not sure what to order. The manual states requirements of a HP Tri-colour No. 95 or 97 in the left hand slot and a HP Photo No 99 in the right slot. All numbers prefixed with a hash sign. Your help would be very much appreciated Michael Reid

  • The cartridge number that you are quoting are none UK cartridges, which would suggest that your printer model was not purchased within the UK. Due to this we are unable to supply the correct cartridges that you require.
    Printers are region based, the same as with a DVD player.
    I would suggest contacting HP.com who will be able to provide you with the correct cartridges.

HP Photosmart 8150 ink cartridges 

The HP Photosmart 8150 is a fast printer with built-in features that allow you to edit pictures on the spot before your print them. The print quality is superior to standard inkjet printers. However, the 8150 is quite difficult to install. Banding is evident on the prints when using default mode.

Design

The main attraction of the HP Photosmart 8150 is the kiosk-style editing which lets you tweak your photos before printing them. It has a preview screen (rather small) and is compatible with PictBridge technology for direct printing. There is a built-in card reader that supports common memory cards in addition to the PictBridge compatibility, so you can print directly from your memory card or your digital camera. The front panel looks busy with a lot of controls, which can get confusing for new users.

Advantages

The HP Photosmart 8150 is fast and produces vivid colours. The on-the-spot editing of photos (i.e. red eye correction, sharpening, and cropping) is very convenient. It is also easy to transfer images to the HP Photosmart 8150 from your digital camera or memory card.

Disadvantages

For a printer that is supposedly advanced, the HP Photosmart 8150 lacks essential features like Bluetooth and WiFi. Installation problems are also common. The HP Photosmart 8150 tends to freeze when reading files from a memory card. The control panel is not very user-friendly and can get confusing at times, even for the seasoned user.
