Our Verdict:  

HP Photosmart 8450gp ink cartridges 

Aimed at serious photo enthusiasts, the HP Photosmart 8450gp is an excellent inkjet photo printer because it produces high-resolution prints in accurate colours. It has superb connectivity options (including a built-in card reader and PictBridge technology) and lets you edit your pictures using the control panel. Unfortunately, it is not exactly user-friendly and is not compatible with new operating systems. Consumables tend to be expensive.

Design

The HP Photosmart 8450gp has a busy control panel and a small colour LCD screen. The printer uses an 8-ink system that promises more accurate and high-definition output. Its maximum print resolution for monochrome is 1200 dpi, while colour prints can be optimised to 4800 dpi. There is an optional PhotoRet Pro technology for enhancing r pictures right on the console. You can transfer your pictures directly from your memory card, digital camera, or Bluetooth-enabled device to the HP Photosmart 8450gp.

Advantages

It’s easy to share, transfer and print photos with the built in HP Instant Share technology, PictBridge, and 4 memory card slots. You can plug in an optional Bluetooth adapter to the HP Photosmart 8450gp. It is capable of printing borderless pictures and is Energy Star rated.

Disadvantages

The HP Photosmart 8450gp is no longer compatible with newer operating systems. It only works on Windows XP and Apple Mac OS X version 10.3. It does not support Mac OS X Classic Mode and OS 9. Another major drawback is the cost of inks. The HP Photosmart 8450gp still uses the primitive combo ink cartridge technology.
