HP Photosmart P1000 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Photosmart P1000 printer
05 April 2012
The HP Photosmart P1000 is a good choice for homes needing a good photo printer. It offers excellent value for money and delivers high-quality photos and good quality text and graphics. It can save time and money as it supports direct printing from a camera and memory cards. The HP Photosmart P1000, however, is often criticised for its slow print speed. It may not be compatible with the latest operating systems either which is also to its detriment.
The black HP Photosmart P1000 is a bit bulky, with dimensions of 440 x 196 x370 mm and a weight of 6.5 kg. The input tray has a capacity of 100 sheets. The HP Photosmart P1000 has a monthly duty cycle of 5000 pages. An easy-to-use control panel with a small LCD display is on the right hand side of the P1000 printer.
There is no need to turn on a computer to print photos with the HP Photosmart P1000 – direct printing via the memory card slots and from cameras is easy, thanks to the uncomplicated user panel. The Photosmart P1000 also supports infrared.
Users often complain of sleep-inducing print speed – the fastest is 11 ppm for black and 8.5 ppm for coloured. The HP Photosmart P1000 is part of an old line of HP printers, so it may not be compatible with newer operating systems.
