  • Hi, I've had the red Pitney Bowes K721 ink from you in the past but see now that you sell them in blue. Is this compatible with Royal Mail? Paul Richards.

    Pitney Bowes K721 blue cartridges

Yes, eventually all franking machine cartridges will be changing to blue in line with Royal Mail requirements. They had tested the colours and the scanning machines can read the blue ink much easier than the red. Below is a copy of their "Changes of Services" letter:

    http://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/RM_FRANKING_tScS_LEAFLET_mAR2013.pdf

If you'll be changing to blue from red, we would advise that your machine may need to be professionally cleaned but Pitney Bowes can clarify this if you contact them.

  • The last cartridge I bought for my Pitney Bowes Mailstation K721 had red ink. You're now giving me the option of blue. Is this okay for Royal Mail use?

    Blue ink for Mailstation K721

Yes, Royal Mail are eventually changing from red to blue ink as they found that their machines read blue ink more easily.

If you were to switch from red to blue now, we would advise you to have your machine professionally cleaned to clear any red ink from inside the machine.

You can check with Pitney Bowes to see if this will be necessary for your machine, as not all of them will require a clean to be done.

  • My cartridge for the K721 franking machine looks a bit different on top from the one you're showing. Will this cause a problem when fitting?

    Compatible K721 cartridge looks different

If you're using a genuine Pitney Bowes K721 ink cartridge then it will look slightly different to the cartridge we're supplying which is made by another retailer as a cheaper alternative. Pitney Bowes cartridges have a patented design which can't be copied. However, this should not cause a problem for you because our compatible K721 ink cartridges are also Royal Mail approved and are guaranteed to work in your franking machine as well. We offer a money back guarantee on these compatible Pitney Bowes K721 ink cartridges so if they don't fit your printer and work reliably you can send them back for a refund or replacement.

Pitney Bowes K721 Printer Review

Expert review of the Pitney Bowes K721 printer 06 June 2012

Our Verdict:

One of the most reliable digital franking devices in the market, the Pitney Bowes K721 is part of the ever-reliable Mailstation series, offering easy to use and maintain franking machines for offices and businesses looking for an efficient way to lower their postage expenses. The Pitney Bowes K721 allows 20% savings on mail and post expenses, saving users a good deal of money from regular stamp purchases and trips to the post office. What's more, they can personalise the mail they send through envelope messaging.

Design

The Pitney Bowes K721 franking printer adopts the same design as its brothers in the series, featuring a classic matte blue and grey finish. The Pitney Bowes K721 has a built-in weighing scale mounted on the right side of the unit, while the control panel sits right below the LCD display. Envelopes, labels, and parcel packaging can be inserted into the proper slot, when the machine is ready to print. The Pitney K721 franking machine is sleek and compact at 351x264x231 mm, although some may find it quite bulky for a machine that only does one simple function.

Advantages

The Pitney Bowes K721 mail franking unit allows offices to drive down their postage expenses and efficiently track the outflow of money used for mailing letters and parcels to consumers. The Pitney Bowes K-721 printer also allows businesses to be constantly in the know of the latest postage rates.

Disadvantages

A very task-specific machine, the Pitney Bowes Mailstation K721 franking machine is not for everyone; however, it is a must-have device for those who send bulk mail every day.
