As mentioned before discount ink cartridges are basically a less expensive option when it comes to ink cartridges for your printer. However, there are several kinds of discount ink cartridges available in the market today. We have explained the first two kinds in the previous chapter and in this page we will be discussing the reaming kinds of discount ink cartridges that form up the basic four kinds of discount ink cartridges.

The third type of discount ink cartridges is known as compatible ink cartridges. These ink cartridges are also known by a second name, which is, refurbished ink cartridges. Recycling ink cartridges that have become old produces the compatible or refurbished ink cartridges. The process to make them is as follows; first the old and useless ink cartridges are taken apart and then cleaned up. After that all the parts of the ink cartridges are thoroughly checked and if a spoilt part is found then it is replaced with a new one. After this the ink cartridge is rebuilt and filled up with toner. Once this is complete it is sent for testing, sealing and packaging. This procedure is the most common when it comes to remanufacturing or refurbishing laser ink cartridges. Sometimes in the remanufacturing process, the outside casings as well as some of the internal components are reused, while at other times the old parts are changed and in their place brand new parts are fitted in. If the ink that is used in this process is of a high quality, then the performance of the compatible or refurbished ink cartridge should be almost equal to that of ink cartridges that come under the Original Equipment Manufacture category. As far as possible get a written warranty from the person that you are purchasing the compatible ink cartridge from to make sure that you get a good deal.

The last category is the refilled ink cartridges. This ink cartridge will save you some money but it is not always a good choice. As far as possible avoid refilled ink cartridges, unless they are professionally refilled. Generally inkjet cartridges are the ones that get refilled. Avoid trying to refill an ink cartridge on your own because refilling with the home refill kits tends to become in to a really messy affair. Also, the quality of the ink that is sold with the home ink refilling kit is generally not of a very good kind. The low quality ink can cause harm to your printer’s nozzle and can even result in bad printing jobs.

These are the four basic kinds of discount ink cartridges that are available as an option for your printer.
