One of the major decisions that you will face is the choice between an inkjet printer and a laser printer. The advantage with laser printers is that they are perfect for high amounts of printing. However, they are demand more of an investment since they are priced higher that inkjet printers. On the other hand, inkjet printers are the best for top quality prints and are available at surprisingly low prizes. However, do not make your decision on a printer based solely on this aspect. Over a long period of time the laser printer turns out to be less expensive to keep and run for your business. The reason for this is that buying a replacement ink cartridge for an inkjet printer will almost cost the same as purchasing a new printer.

The second most important decision would be the kind on ink cartridges a printer works best with. Some printers require ink cartridges that are known as combined color cartridges. Such ink cartridges have to be substituted even if only one color has been completely utilized. Some other kinds of printers run on cartridges that require a separate cartridge for every color. These kinds of printers are considered better because they run on a system that provides an excellent quality of prints. Also, with these printers you can only change the ink cartridge whose ink color is almost over and needs replacing. This means that you do not have to buy an entirely new ink cartridge every time one of the colors gets over and needs to be replaced.

Also purchase a printer based on whether you or your business needs to have colour prints or black and white prints. The ink cartridges for such printers would be different.
