Apple Now Adds Universal Print Driver for Lexmark

AppleA few days back, Apple released a universal printer driver for HP printers. And there were unconfirmed reports that Canon and Brother printer drivers were also released last week. Now, it’s Lexmark which is getting added on to its kitty.

As we see it, Apple is trying to minimize its problems with Macs by having a fewer files, to take care of most peripherals one uses on a regular basis. The concept sounds cool but it would be a challenge to fit the scheme of future printers that are in pipeline.

Two days back, Apple added Lexmark’s universal printer driver into its quiver. The size of the driver isn’t as humongous as that of HP, but still large for a printer driver at 71MB.

The universal driver can be downloaded from Apple website. You can also download the installer package from the Apple Support. This software works on Macs running OS X 10.5.3 or higher.
