Review: Boxy Lexmark C543DN for Rapid Prints

Lexmark, a US printer major is making inroads in the UK printer market with rapid strides. What was once a bastion of Xerox, HP and Brother especially for laser printers is now being eaten away by Lexmark. Their latest offering, C543DN is quite simply feature rich and has all the bells and whistles to emerge as a fierce competitor in this segment.

The manufacturer claims that this Lexmark laser printer can print at superior quality. The best resolution it offers is 1200 X 1200 dpi for both monochrome and colour. A 417 MHz processor powers the printer and a standard 128 MB memory is fitted into it, which can be expanded up to 640MB.

Printer supplies come in two flavours; standard toner cartridges that are estimated to print 1000 prints and high yield at 2000 prints for colour and 2500 prints for black.

Printing speed is excellent at 20ppm for both monochrome and colour. Duplex printing does not dip the printing speed and the output stays quite rightly at 10spm.

The printer connects to networks through a standard Ethernet port and onto standalone computers through a USB port. The absence of wireless connectivity will take this printer two steps backwards.

Lexmark C543DN is available at various company reseller stores as well as online. It is estimated to cost around £250 including VAT.
