Lexmark’s latest inkjet printer, X6650 is power packed, with features that not many other competitors offer. It’s a multi-function printer that can copy, scan and fax along with lab quality photo printing. To top it, it’s a wireless printer.
The printing technology is thermal and the system carries four ink cartridges, CMYK for its generic activities. Additionally, two cartridges can be hooked on, for bringing more quality and colour to photo printing. Best printing resolution is 1200 X 1200 dpi for black and 4800 X 1200 dpi for colour.
Printing speed is competitive at 25ppm for black and 18ppm for colour. However, at normal mode, the print speed of colour dips exponentially to 3ppm, which can be a genuine concern.
This Lexmark inkjet printer connects to a standalone computer through USB and to a network through Wi-Fi. But, the absence of an Ethernet option will either force consumers to upgrade from wired networks or not go for this printer.
Being a full-fledged photo printer, the X6650 comes with PictBridge port and standard memory card readers. Print jobs can be directly fed sans PC through these ports. Also, it can scan and send copies directly to a USB key or memory cards. The lack of direct emailing option is notable.
Another attractive feature of this printer is its price which is estimated to hover around £70.
