Portable printers that can sync wireless with laptops and cell phones are getting more attention than the others and it’s evident in the new products that’s hitting our market. The latest to jump in the fray is a competitor who is unknown in the mobile printing business, Brother, with its ultra-mobile printer, MW-140BT.
The printer is thermal based, as is the case with all other ultra-mobile printers. But, it does not specialize in photo printers like the PoGos and Wasabis, instead focuses on document printing. There’s a catch though! The maximum print size achievable in this printer is A7 and we are little bemused how people can read documents without straining their eyes that are approximately half the size of A4 documents. It will remain a mystery until we have one in our hands.
The printer automatically scales down to A7 print size from the standard A4 sized documents. This is possible only with Windows operating system as yet.
MW-140BT achieves a maximum print resolution of 300 dpi and prints at a speed of 4 pages per minute.
A7 paper is loaded in the printer in the form of cartridges, similar to other ultra-mobile printers.
The printer can operate through USB port and Bluetooth technology.
Brother Corporation has put a hefty price tag of £275 inclusive of VAT. We are not sure whether this type of a printer at such an expensive tag is worth the price or not; possibly not.
