Canon, the leader in quality imaging and printing has introduced two new multi-function colour laser printers, ImageClass MF9150c and MF9170c. These printers are capable of scanning, copying and faxing along with standard colour laser printing capabilities.
Both models incorporate single cartridge system which combines the toner, drum and development unit into one easy-to-replace cartridge, and an expensive option as well. Canon leverages upon Pure Black Technology that ensures that the richest blacks are outputted by utilizing only the black toner in comparison with the traditional methods of combining toners when scanning documents.
Printing speeds for both black and colour printing and copying is at 22ppm.
Both models feature a 33.6Kbps Super G3 fax modem, built in networking, USB 2.0 interface and memory slots. They can basically be used without a a PC.
The difference between the two models lies in the printer protocol used. ImageClass MF9170c is PCL 5e/6 enabled which is fast becoming a de facto standard.
With loads of features and lab-like quality comes a prince-like price. The MF9150c is priced at £1250 and the MF9170c carries a price tag of £1500.
