Canon UK has unveiled a new start-up monochrome laser printer in i-SENSYS LBP3100. The printer looks compact and in the world where inkjets have presumably gained an upper hand, an entry-level non-colour laser printer will have limited buyers and the option of homes is virtually closed out.
The printer outputs at a best resolution of 2400 X 600 dpi which is pretty much the standard these days, even for higher end lasers. Printing speed is fair at 16 pages per minute and the first print emerges out within the first 10 seconds from the power-on. From the sleep mode, the manufacturer claims that the delay is almost zero.
The only connectivity option on LBP3100 is through USB; network option is not a part of the printer by default, although a print server can be hooked on.
The manufacturer claims that the printer is environmental friendly. It consumes 2 watts or less during its sleep mode. The engine does not contain an engine fan, which makes the printer virtually noise-less.
Canon has put a nominal price tag of £115 on this printer.
