The printer manufacturer who is holding onto the No.2 position in the European market has released two entry level monochrome laser printers, i-SENSYS LBP3100 and LBP3010. They replace the obsolete LBP3000 and LBP2900. These two printers are a part of an array of printers that are due to be released today.
The new printers offer several feature enhancements from its predecessors.
LBP3100 has a printing speed of 16ppm while LBP3010 offers 14ppm. Both printers require 8.5 seconds to deliver the first print. They offer a best resolution of 2400 X 600 dpi and are designed to be compact, ideal for smaller offices.
Canon has undertaken green initiatives by using least power during sleep mode, with 2 watts. Canon patented Quick First Print technology enables the printer to provide print-outs instantly from sleep mode without any wait time.
The LBP3100 is priced at £109 while LBP3010 at £89 and both printers will be available in September 2008. From the press note available to us, it seems as though users are paying £20 extra for the model that spits out 2ppm more than the other. In my book, it’s not worth it but for those who count on the precious seconds, it might be worth a buy.
