Canon has displayed four new printers at the largest consumer trade show, CES 2010. The printers include Pixma MX870, Pixma MX350, Pixma MX340, and Pixma iP2702. They are aimed primarily at homes, home offices and small businesses.
These printers come with the usual bells and whistles with 2.5″ LCD, PictBridge, Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity. New features include automatic document fix and automatic photo fix II.
The automatic document fix works in cahoots with the scanner. It fixes the documents that are scanned to bring out more sharper images and darkening the black prints. It also removes any visible background, say watermarks or texture, to increase the readability.
Automatic Photo Fix II is for photographers, especially the amateur kind. It removes red eye automatically along with sharpening images around the faces with the face detection software.
The Canon Pixma MX870 costs £200, Pixma MX350 at £150, Pixma MX340 at £100 and Pixma iP2702 at £50. The prices of compatible Canon printer cartridges are yet to announced though.
