Canon, the king of photo inkjet printers has launched a new printer in Pixma MX860 that is aimed at homes and offices. This printer replaces Pixma MX850 and Pixma MX700 and offers a lot more than the combined duo.
Print resolution is one of the best in the industry at 9600 X 2400 dpi. The print engine consists of five individual inks to produce such excellent prints. Like all other latest Canon printers, ink droplet size is at 1 pico liter and the ink system is powered by ChromaLife 100.
Print speed at top resolution is at 8.4 pages per minute for monochrome and 5.6 pages per minute for colour. Borderless photographs take 41 seconds to print.
The printer is mounted with a 6.2 cm TFT screen for viewing and editing images before printing. Direct printing is made possible through memory card readers and PictBridge port.
The printer connects to standalone systems through USB port, wired networks through Ethernet and to wireless networks through Wi-Fi.
The availability of automatic duplex printing on this printer will stand in good stead for offices and eco-friendly groups.
The Canon Pixma MX860 will be available in the market from March 2009 and is slated to carry an inflated price tag of £259.
