Canon Pixma iP1900 – economical and fast

The Canon Pixma iP1900 inkjet is one of Canon’s low-cost printing devices ever. The printer has a 4800x1200dpi resolution and 2picoliter ink droplet. The ChromaLife 100 system assures longevity to photo printouts.

However, the cons with the Canon iP1900 are that there is no PictBridge, memory card slots or LCDs. In fact, there is no collection tray, so you will need to ensure there’s a lot of space in front of the printer to stop pages from falling.

The Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint EX suite provides diverse features that allow the end-user to create amazing pictures – clear and smooth. The ChromaLife 100 assures long-lasting images, up to 100 years if the photos are stored in an album.

Most inkjets have a problem with printing texts and the Canon iP1900 is no exception – the text is slightly blur and don’t expect high-caliber reproduction. With Canon iP1900 ink cartridges, in the finest mode the printer prints about 1.9 pages per minute, text is still fuzzy and poor. However, that does not mean it cannot be read, the output is readable. In the middle mode the printer prints about 6.3 ppm, while the results are legible.

However, the colour graphics are a bit slow. The printer prints color printouts at 17ppm. The palette of the Canon Pixma iP1900 is slightly light and some colours, especially the blue shades lack accuracy. The results aren’t bad, but the intensity isn’t a strength of the Canon Pixma iP1900′s output.

Verdict

The Canon Pixma iP1900 is a very economical printer, however the list of cons are more than the pros – the print quality and speed should be improved and without the output tray it does seem an inconvenience to end-users.
