Canon Pixma MP990 Reviewed

Canon Pixma MP990 is the top of the line printer for homes. It is a multi-function printer that can print, scan and copy. It is a wireless printer too and comes with the office centric feature of automatic duplex printing. At the time of review, the printer was priced at £230 inclusive of VAT.

This printer comes with five individual canon printer cartridges, dye-based cyan, magenta, yellow and black for photo printing and a pigmented black for document prints. A photo black ink cartridge is also added to produce true monochrome shading on black and white photographs.

Colour photographs from this printer are stunning. Colours are vivid and natural, making it one of the best outputs we have seen thus far, and it easily exceeds our expectations. Print speed for 4″ X 6″ photographs however take 50 seconds, which is a little too long. Canon claims that the print speed is under 20 seconds, but that number has been put in with super exaggeration.

Document prints are sharp, even at different points, including fonts sized 7. Black text is dark and well formed. Monochrome document print rate is 10.5 pages per minute which is great for a photo printer, and even better when the claimed is rate is just over at 11.9 pages per minute.

Verdict : The Canon Pixma MP990 is a great printer for homes, and even for studios. Prints are unquestionable and print rate is decent.
