Canon Pixma MX330 : Multi-Function Printer

Canon Pixma MX330Canon has shifted its target base from home printing to business printers with Pixma MX330. The device is a 4-in-1 multi-functional printer that can print, scan, copy and fax. The manufacturer claims that the printer will enhance productivity at offices with its quick operation.

Canon printer cartridges leverage upon FINE technology in bringing out quality rich prints at 4800 X 1200 dpi resolution. 2pl is the minimum size of droplets and a black cartridge along with packaged three colour ink cartridge is entrusted to do the job.

Print speed is good, but not great at 7.5 images per minute for monochrome and 4.5 images per minute for colour. 4″ X 6″ prints take around 45 seconds to bring pictures to life.

A 1.8″ LCD screen is provided to navigate through the menu. An automatic document feeder is also present. However, the lack of automatic duplex printing option is surprisingly omitted.

Connections to this printer are limited, especially for an office. A USB 2.0 and PictBridge are the only sources for prints and it bemuses me to find an office printer without the option to network. Optionally, Canon offers Bluetooth connectivity.

The Canon Pixma MX330 is a printer with limited features. The company will soon realize that quality prints are merely not sufficient, and it requires a host of features to thrive. The printer costs around £140.
