The financial results for Oce is out for 2009. Oce is reeling under losses by a few million euros, and its proposed takeover by Canon was potentially in doubt. But, the printing major has rubbished all rumors and claims and has stated that the acquisition will continue as planned, and there would not be any other hindrances.
In 2009, Oce sales fell by 9% to 2.65 billion euros compared to 2008′s 2.91 billion euros. Profits at an operation level also took a major hit with 61% hit. 2008 profit was 46 million euros and in 2009, losses amounted to 15 million euros. Last year, the net loss for Oce is 47 million euros as opposed to a net profit of 4 million euros in 2008.
Rokus van Iperen, Oce chairman, said, “Our revenues continued to decline in the fourth quarter as customers remained uncertain about the economic situation and sustained their efforts to reduce costs.
“We are on track with the implementation of our action programme related to job reductions and saving out-of-pocket expenses. In 2010, we anticipate that the markets will remain challenging.”
