Other printer manufacturers are probably going to envy the latest offering from Casio, Japan. Casio has announced the arrival of two new photo printers which boasts of a large touchscreen LCD, a keyboard, a memory storage device amongst others.
The PCP-1200 features a 7” touchscreen LCD with a maximum resolution of 480 X 320 pixels. The printer is capable of printing postcard sized photos, and is equipped with a mini keyboard to key in text for postcards, captions and other places as desired. Handwriting recognition is also available through the touchscreen interface.
The printer can work sans PC with the help of memory card slots on the printer. PCP-1200 currently supports PRO duo memory, SDHC/SD/xD/CF/miniSD/miniSDHC and micro SD cards.
The printer features several inbuilt useful resources such as 294 templates for post cards and calendar templates amongst others. Along with the available resources, the printer can store up to 1000 different addresses.
A trimmed down version of PCP-1200, PCP-250 is also due to be released. The latter is mounted with a relatively smaller (3.5”) LCD touchscreen.
PCP-1200 and PCP-250 will be released in Japan on the 12th of September, and it would probably take 3 months for these Casios to move westward. Estimating the cost of printers by directly converting the Japanese Yen, PCP-1200 might carry a price tag of around £250 and PCP-250 of around £180.
