Dell Colour Laser 2135cn : Low on Features, High on Price

Colour laser printer from premiere desktop manufacturer Dell, 2135CN is perhaps not one of those printers that strike you initially, at least from the outset. It’s a multi-function printer that can scan, copy and fax along with basic colour laser printing.

This printer is probably one of those that were inspired from the era of dinosaurs. It is huge, hefty and bulky. Its dimensions are big enough to occupy a desktop all by itself, maybe even more. Its weight is unheard of, at 30 kilograms. In the age of mobility, it is definitely surprising to find this specimen.

A review conducted by PC Mag states that 2135CN displayed below par text and graphics quality against other printers in the segment. Photos fared much better though.

Printing speed is top notch at 16ppm for monochrome and 12ppm for colour.

The lack of an automatic duplex printing option is appalling. The option of turning this product into a standalone copier and fax machine is one of the few positives. Also, the availability of a 35-page automatic document feeder will ensure that users can leverage upon special paper without having to swap out the paper in the tray.

Just like its mammoth weight, price of the printer could be a little heavy for consumers to bear. It carries a price tag of £275 which is marginally on the expensive side for a printer that has very little to offer.
