THE NEWS IN PRINT

The American computer giant has introduced three new multi-function printers in the UK; V105, V305 and V305. Their design and ease of use fits the profile of home users and to an extent, offices.

V105 is the base model and offers a decent printing speed of 19ppm for monochrome and 15ppm for colour. It also claims to produce quality 7” X 5” borderless photos.

The Dell V305 is similar to its predecessor but with some enhancements. Printing speed is better at 21ppm for black and 16ppm for colour. It has a built in PictBridge port and media slots to load photos directly off the camera or memory cards.

The top model, V305W is an upgrade of V305 with the wireless functionality.

Dell has taken green initiatives like by sending a postage free envelope for collecting empty cartridges. This feature is particularly heartening that a major manufacturer is undertaking steps as the printer is getting introduced into the market.

Dell keeps the prices of printers as low as possible as they very well know that profits come from ink cartridges and not directly from printers. V105 is priced at £52, V305 at £63 after a £9 discount and V305W carries a price tag of £75 after deducting a discount of £11.
