Dell Computers has unveiled its version of ultra-mobile photo printer in Wasabi. The product was displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The new printer is an offshoot of the popular Zink technology. Wasabi will be directly competing with Pogo when the product launches later this year.
The Zink printer is based on inkless technology where heat is used to print on specialized paper. The print size is limited to 2” X 3” though which is as big as a normal credit card.
The printer receives signals through USB and Bluetooth. Users can directly beam pictures using the Bluetooth technology; a feature that is inherent on most cell phones these days.
We are awaiting more details on the product and our sources indicate that the Dell Wasabi will launch sometime before April this year.
Meanwhile Polaroid has announced the arrival of its second version of Pogo which includes a built-in digital camera. This will ensure that the new Polaroid printer will not have any competitors at the moment.
