The printers have gone through many evolutions, but none has become as famous as the All-in-one. The All-in-ones have a printer, scanner and fax machine. However, the Dell Photo All-In-One Printer 924 has a printer, scanner, but it does not have a fax machine instead it has a PictBridge to print directly from the camera.

Features
The 924 key features are the Print, Scan and Photocopy. The printer can print up to 20 ppm (pages per minute) when printing only with the black color and 16 ppm when printing with the color cartridges. All the printing is done on a borderless paper. There is also the provision of 6 color printing, using the optional photo cartridge – provides high quality images.

The copier can copy up to 17 cpm (copies per minute) using the black color and 12 cpm when using the color cartridges.
The 924 has wireless capability and connect to any computer that has the wireless adapter installed.

Design
Most All-in-ones are bulky, but the 924 is different in that sense. The 924 has a very compact design that measures 11.4 by 17.2 by 17.5 inches – a real space saving design.

The 924 supports both the 4 color printing and 6 color printing and the pictures if used with the special photo paper can last up to 50 years.

Performance
The real question when it comes to performance is the speed and print quality of the printer. To answer the first part of the question the printer has good speed for completing the printing process – clocking on an average about 1 minute and 14 seconds for every 4” x 6” and for every 8”x10” prints it took 2 minutes and 42 seconds. The text and black and white prints were much faster. If the page only contains text, it takes a total of 10 seconds to print on a 8”x10” page, however if there are some graphics along with the texts it would take about 40 secs.

The Dell 924 ink cartridges provide good quality outputs in both the 4 color and 6 color outputs, but the 4 color output is not good enough. The 6 color output on the other hand is pretty good.
