Not all the printers available in the market today are network ready while some are network printers but not wi-fi enabled. The best way to upgrade a non-network printer into a network printer is to add a print server between the router/hub and the printer. If wires are not preferred, print servers come in wireless flavour as well as the one we are about to introduce now.
Dynamode has released a new print server earlier last week, WL-PS-1U-G, that has a single USB port and is capable of connecting to a high gain antenna via a detachable RP-SMA antenna connector.
The manufacturer claims that the printer is small and stylish and has a full GUI based interface. It supports the TCP/IP protocol for connecting most compatible parallel printers via an existing 802.11b or 802.11g wireless access point up to 100 metres.
The print server supports Fault Tolerant Upgrade feature and admins are allowed to share any number of printers through the available 54 Mbps wi-fi network. The server is mostly compatible with all the leading printer manufacturers.
The print server is available in the market for around £75.
Along with this news release, Dynamode also announced the arrival of R-ADSL-C4W-G1, a GameFriendly Wireless Router, which will let gamers play online while remaining protected.
